Every one of us experiences a “stream of consciousness” every waking moment of every single day. We are exposed to a continuous sequence of one thought after another, followed by yet another. This continuous stream of thoughts is what we call a “stream of consciousness.” It’s a great metaphor, don’t you think?
Here’s the uncomfortable aspect of this metaphor. Our stream is not always so nice and calm as is shown here. It’s often turbulent. We feel out-of-control. Our thoughts seem to be rushing through our mind so much faster than is comfortable.
